Chelsea Owner Roman Abramovich Dismisses Manager Jose Mourinho For the Second Time

English Premier League manager Jose Mourinho was fired today (Thursday) from English top-flight Chelsea FC, just seven months after leading the club to the Premier League Championships.

Chelsea Owner, Roman Abramovich dismissed Mourinho for the second time, as he was also managing the team between 2004 and 2007.

This time Abramovich tried to keep Jose for as long as he could, throughout a terrible season.  Mostly due to Jose Mourinho’s four-year contract worth £250K ($371K) a week, totalling at £13 million ($19 million) a year.

Roman Abramovich was urging Jose Mourinho to build on last season’s Championship title, but in a disastrous season this year, Chelsea lost 2-1 to Leicester City this Monday, which marks the club’s ninth defeat in 16 league games.  That leaves Chelsea just one point over the English Premier League’s relegation zone.

Mourinho’s comments off the pitch were also of concern to Abramovich and Chelsea’s management.  Where he said players have betrayed him and failed to carry out his instructions.

This second dismissal of Jose Mourinho will be the Chelsea FC owner’s eighth dismissal of a manager since he took over the club in 2003.

It is assumed that Chelsea FC interim manager Guus Hiddink will take over for the rest of the season.
