Jamie Vardy Makes English Premier League History

Leicester’s Jamie Vardy is the first player in the history of the English Premier League to score goals in 11 consecutive matches.

Vardy scored his last goal yesterday (Saturday) at a home match for Leicester that ended in a 1 -1 draw against Manchester United.  This, giving Vardy a total of 14 goals in this Premier League season so far.

Vardy’s club, Leicester City F.C. begun the day in the English Premier League’s first place, which was hard to believe for a team that was fighting relegation last season.

But as the day went by, and Manchester United’s Bastian Schweinsteiger scored the equalizer in added time of the first half, Leicester dropped to second place in the Barclays Premier League table tied in 8 points with 3rd place Manchester United and 4th place Arsenal.

The leaders of the table with 9 points are Manchester City FC.

28 year-old Jamie Vardy was born in Sheffield, England, and has been playing for Leicester City since 2012, registering a total of 111 appearances and 39 goals with the club.  He previously played for lower-division Fleetwood Town and Halifax Town.

Vardy, who recalls playing four years ago for Fleetwood in the Conference in front of 768 people said that he is “taking each match as it comes”.

Being praised by many for his calm composure that enabled him to score that record-breaking goal, Vardy responded: “The record was not on my mind, it would had an impact on my, and the team’s performance, and that’s the last thing you want”.

Jamie will travel next with Leicester City to face English Premier League Swansea City on December 5th.
