New Signing Gaston Sauro Arrives to Columbus Crew

August 25, 2015

After a delay due to Visa approvals, Columbus Crew’s new signing Gaston Sauro arrived at his new team and has been showcased to the crowds during the Crew’s home match against Sporting Kansas City last Saturday.

The 25-year old Argentinian defender started his career in Argentina’s Boca Juniors in 2008.  In 2012 he transferred to FC Basel where he had 35 appearances until transferring on loan in 2014 to Italy’s Seria B Catania, where he had 27 appearances up to his August signing at MLS team Columbus Crew FC.

Sauro was scouted to Major League Soccer by Crew’s coach Gregg Berhalter.

“I am very happy to finally arrive to Columbus,” Sauro said to the press.  “I spoke to Gregg [Berhalter] and he talked me into coming here.  I don’t wish to speak too much about myself.  I want to team, media and fans to evaluate me.  I can only say that I’m ready to work hard and excited to play here”.

Gaston Sauro trained today with the squad for the first time, and Coach Berhalter said to the press that Suaro may already appear in this coming Saturday’s match against MLS rival NYCFC at Yankee Stadium.
