August 30th, CenturyLink Field, Seattle, WA, 5:00 p.m. ET

Seattle Sounders play hosts to Portland Timbers, with a newfound rivalry in the Major League Soccer Western Conference.

The teams will be meeting for the fourth time this season, in the past two MLS season games between the two, Seattle won 1-0 at home in April, and Portland 4-1 at home in June.

Hosts Seattle Sounders are ranked seventh in Major League Soccer’s Western Conference with 35 points (11-13-2).  Seattle have lost six of their last seven matches, with their last game resulting at a 2-0 at Real Salt Lake last Saturday.

Visitors Portland Timbers are ranked fourth in the Western Conference, with forty points (11-8-7), the Timbers are coming on a front foot, with their last 2-2 draw with the Houston Dynamos being their fourth unbeaten game.

A newfound rivalry between the clubs was created recently, during and one unforgettable US Open Cup match where all hell broke loose.  In a third-round game in June 17th, the Timbers ended up winning 3-1 after four Sounders players were sent off, with Clint Dempsey ripping the referee’s card and being fined and suspended six matches by the US Open Cup panel.
