Philadelphia Union 0 – 1 New England Revolution

After a scoreless first half, New England’s Diego Fagundez scored the one and only goal of the match (51’), putting an end to the Union’s 3-game unbeaten streak.  This extends Revolution’s unbeaten run to five games.

The Union will play at San Jose Earthquakes next Saturday, while New England will host Orlando City SC on the same day.

Orlando City SC 1 – 1 Chicago Fire

Following a severe-weather delay, Chicago’s David Accam scored the first goal of the match (30’).  Only seven minutes later, Orlando’s Lewis Neal shot a cross from the right, to be deflected by Chicago’s Eric Gehrig into the Fire’s net, handing Orlando an own goal.

Next Saturday, Orlando will travel to New England Revolution, and Chicago will travel to Montreal Impact.

Houston Dynamo 2 – 0 Vancouver Whitecaps

All of last night went Houston Dynamo’s way pretty much.

After missing four games, Houston’s Ricardo Clark came back with a bang, putting the Dynamos in the lead the 34’ minute.

Vancouver trailed behind all night, with Kendell Watson picking up two yellows and shown a red card to be sent off after a foul from behind on Houston’s Erick “Cubo” Torres, and a few minutes later a harsh tackle on Giles Barnes (56’).

Less than ten minutes later, Vancouver went further down to nine men, as Whitecaps Matias Laba was also sent off after accumulating two yellow cards for fouls.

Vancouver will host next Colorado Rapids on September 9th, and Houston Dynamo will host Real Salt Lake on September 12th.

FC Dallas 2 – 0 Real Salt Lake

The first goal of the game came from a penalty kick, when Real Salt Lake’s Demar Phillips clipped FC Dallas’s midfielder Victor Ulloa in the box.  Tesho Akindele took the converted the penalty kick to give Dallas a lead early in the second half (51’).

The second goal was scored later in the second half by Dallas’s Fabian Castillo (79’).  Compared to FC Dallas’s repeated attacks, were good defensive efforts by Real Salt Lake, with seven shots blocked by Real’s defense, and more opportunities being declined by Real’s midfielder Kyle Beckerman.

FC Dallas with play at Columbus Crew next Saturday, while Real Salt Lake will play at Houston on September 12th.

Colorado Rapids 2 – 1 Sporting Kansas City

Although Krisztian Nemeth assisted Dominic Dwyer to score the first goal of the game right at the start of eh second half (47’), Colorado continued to persist and replied shortly thereafter.

Colorado’s Vicente Sanchez dribbled the ball to find Maynor Figuera who scored the equalizer (53’).

Although Sporting Kansas City did appear to have the upper hand on the pitch at times, Vicente Sanchez again came to the rescue with his second assist of the night, and found Kevin Doyle in the box.  Doyle shot a header to score Colorado’s winning goal (76’).

Colorado Rapids see with this win their winning-streak extended to three games, while Sporting Kansas City have marked a three-game losing slump.

Both teams play again in September 12th, with Colorado Rapids travelling to Vancouver Whitecaps, and Sporting Kansas City travelling to Portland Timbers.
