This is the second regular-season meeting between the two MLS Western Conference Rivals, with Minnesota United winning the Huston Dynamos 1-0 at Allianz Field earlier this year.
The tables turned on Wednesday night, with the Dynamos winning the Loons that are considered a very strong rival, having recently beaten LAFC with Mason Toye’s magic.

The Dynamos sealed the deal within less than ten minutes at the end of the first half, with Mauro Manotas scoring for Huston the first goal of the match (37’), which was his 12th MLS career goal.

Manotas didn’t stop there, and a few minutes later also helped in the setup of his team’s second goal, teammate Christian Ramirez’s chip past Minnesota’s goalkeeper Vito Mannone (44’).
The Loons didn’t manage to retaliate in the second half, with one late goal by Ethan Finley being disqualified due to offside.

Huston took away from this match a much-needed win that broke off their 7-game winless streak, and with a very small possibility, their playoff chances are slim. Minnesota lost together with the match their chance to move ahead of Seattle Sounders to MLS Western Conference’s second place.
