FC Dallas vs. New York City FC – Game Recap

Another East-Meets-West match in the late stages of Major League Soccer’s 2015 regular season, ends up with yet-another devastating blow to New York’s playoffs hopes, and establishing Dallas comfortably in the top of the Western Conference.

This match puts FC Dallas second in the MLS Western Conference, with 47 points, trailing only 1 point behind conference leaders Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

MLS expansion team New York City FC are left further away from the playoffs of their first Major League Soccer season, now ranked ninth in the MLS Eastern Conference, with 28 points.

A goalless first half nearly ended, Michal feeds Tesho Akindele with a ball in midfield, Akindele chests the ball and stabilizes it, to make a run into New York’s box and fire from the right to the upper-left corner, scoring the first goal of the match (45’).

FC Dallas 1 – 0 NYCFC

To wrap up the first half, Michal took a corner shot that was nothing less than perfect, curling it into New York’s net for yet another goal (45’+4’).

FC Dallas 2 – 0 NYCFC

NYCFC did get a chance to get back into the game, with Dallas’s defender Atiba Harris sending his left arm and taking New York’s Ned Grabavoy down inside Dallas’s box.

Visitors’ Patrick Mullins converted the penalty with a shot to the right (70’).

Still, that single point was not enough for New York that failed to create another goal.

FC Dallas 2 – 1 NYCFC

New York City FC host Toronto FC this Wednesday, while FC Dallas travel to face Sporting Kansas City on Friday.
